Zeolite Homework 03
1. If the zeolites in the last week homework were ion exchanged
into acid form, which one possess the most acid strength, why?
2. From the ion Exchange
Isotherm of Na-chabazite with
other cations shown in the webpage (D.W. Breck, Zeolite Molecular Sieve, 1974,
p 557),
2.1 Give the order of
exchangeable preference of cations that can be exchanged into
Na-chabasite
2.2 What cation(s) cannot be
exchanged to 100%? Why? What should be done in order to increase the
exchangeable capacity of such cation (s)?
2.3. If the Si/Al ration of
Na-chabazite was increased, Which ion exchange isotherm will be most affected?,
How and why?
2.4 Can we exchange chabasite
into 100% Acid form? Whether or not, how is the acid strength of it as compared
to the acid strength of Zeolite H-Beta
